A Poem of God and Love
Rumi ~ A Gift of Love
Recently my thoughts have wondered toward Rumi, and my personal faith. The truth is that I've been wondering so long, but I can't help but wonder if maybe the wanderers, and the Sufi were not wrong in their teachings. That God is not a single given faith, and not politics guised as belief, but the love that transcends from one person giving their faith to their God, which is the God, and all Gods. I've held this perspective for so long. The mystic, the gnostic concept of only those who would feel their judgment the perception of madness from the outside pointed inward.
To give, and to receive only the satisfaction of peace, and the knowing of well placed guidance your reward. The knowledge that upon our birth God grants us the earth to plant us, the seed to ignite us, and love to help us grow. We seek out his love for which we grasp, the child reaching for the mother's bussom, and the piercing adolescent pondering the existence of the divine into the night's sky. We seek you, and knowledge for when we continue to outstretch, when our eyes follow you we are at peace within ourselves. We are at peace in the knowledge of your love, and your guidance for which encompasses us as parent, sibling, and child to nurture within ourselves. We hold our faith within us, a fostering flame to smolder, and intoxicate.
So many people seek you, and yet forget to look at the one place that they might certainly find you. Within ourselves, within the grains of the black of this earth we find you grit, and grace, honesty, and rebellion, honesty, and the unspeakable words that could never be spoken. Bewilderment is the description of the divine. We will most certainly find you, but could never understand you. For it is you who creates, and seeks to grasp his own creation. There is never a cessation of the knowledge found within ourselves. We pass from this earth, and we find that what waits for us is a future peace, and a new beginning.
Life, after life, and death but a transcendence past the first step of a long wondering path filled within the flowers of your words guiding us toward a new destination that only you could see. We see the fiery blooms open before us, for you walk with me god, and guide me god. You surround me with your presence, you suffocate me with all the wisdom of this world. I close myself off to you without realizing, and the path disappears. In time I will once again find the friend to my side who continues to walk with me even if we can not discuss, and banter as old friends. You are there, and will always be, even when I fall away, and cannot see the path placed right in front of my curtained eyes.
